What this site collects
Short version: there are no accounts, no newsletter, and analytics runs only if you allow it. The detail below covers hosting logs, the third-party requests your browser makes, and what happens when you accept or refuse.
Who is responsible
This site is written and operated by an individual, referred to on this page as the site operator, and is subject to the laws of mainland China. The contact address for anything on this page is support@chengduattractions.com.
There is no company behind it, no data team, and no third-party marketing platform holding reader profiles on the operator's behalf.
What this site does not do
There are no user accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no contact form. Nothing on this site asks you to sign in, and nothing stores your reading history.
The site sets no cookie of its own before you consent. The only thing stored in your browser by this site is a single localStorage entry recording whether you accepted analytics — it contains the word granted or denied and nothing else: no identifier, no timestamp, no device fingerprint.
What is processed when you load a page
The site is served by Cloudflare, which receives the standard request data needed to deliver a page and defend against abuse: your IP address, the browser's user-agent string, the URL requested, and a timestamp. Cloudflare keeps operational logs under its own retention schedule; the site operator does not receive identifiable logs and does not build reader profiles from them.
The analytics tag is loaded from googletagmanager.com on every page, in a consent-denied state. Until you accept, it is not permitted to write cookies or identifiers.
Cloudflare may set strictly functional security cookies for its bot and attack protection. Those are set by Cloudflare, not by this site, and are not used for advertising.
Third-party requests your browser makes
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Google therefore sees your IP address and user-agent when a page loads.
The temperature in the header is fetched directly from Open-Meteo's public API (api.open-meteo.com) when the page loads, which means Open-Meteo also sees your IP address. The request carries no identifier and the site stores nothing from the response.
The climate table on the weather page is computed at build time, so reading it makes no live request at all.
Analytics, and the choice you are given
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-MFY9CY78EY) to see which pages are read and which are not. It is loaded with consent mode set to denied: before you choose, the tag may not set cookies, may not store identifiers, and sends no information that can be tied to you.
A banner asks once. Accept and Google Analytics may set its cookies — _ga and _ga_MFY9CY78EY — which hold a randomly generated client identifier so a returning visit can be recognised as the same browser. Refuse, or simply ignore the banner, and those cookies are never written; the site behaves identically either way.
Your choice is remembered in one localStorage entry, not a cookie, so it can be read only by this site and is never sent anywhere. Clearing site data resets it and the banner will ask again.
When analytics is permitted, Google receives the page you are on, the referring page, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic device information. Google Analytics 4 does not store or log IP addresses. Data is retained for 14 months.
You can refuse or withdraw at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with Google's official browser add-on.
Advertising, once it is switched on
This site intends to display Google AdSense advertising, and may join affiliate programmes. When that happens, this section will describe what is actually live rather than what is planned.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, and opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Where the law requires consent for advertising cookies, ads will not be personalised until you give it.
If you email us
Messages sent to support@chengduattractions.com are kept so they can be answered and so a correction can be verified later. The address is never added to a mailing list, never sold, and never used to send anything except a reply.
Ask for your correspondence to be deleted and it will be, unless the message is the only record of a correction that is still live on a page — in that case you will be told before anything is deleted.
Your rights
You can ask what personal data is held about you, ask for a copy, ask for a correction, or ask for deletion. Requests go to the contact address and are answered within 30 days where feasible.
Because the site holds no accounts and no analytics, in most cases the honest answer will be that nothing beyond an email you chose to send is held at all.
Children
The site is a travel guide and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included, because it does not collect personal data from readers at all.
Changes to this policy
This policy describes the site as it is configured today. Adding advertising, analytics or an email newsletter changes what has to be disclosed, and the change will land on this page in the same release as the feature.
